Sydney Contractor market update for September/October 2023

The market has seen new contract opportunities in Sydney come down by 16% from their pre-NSW budget volumes. You can see the details in the graphic below showing the breakdown in different categories:

-Project Manager (down 18%) and Business Analyst (down 22%). Opportunities have had a particularly difficult month, as the focus on cost-cutting measures and reallocation to new projects takes place.

-Technical IT Roles (+5%) and HR roles (+1%) are the only two categories to experience growth. This was mostly driven by Software Engineers and DevOps engineers, where skills shortages and demand for talent remain strong.
